Mission Statement
The Writing Lab’s primary mission is the development of student writers. We are committed to their success throughout the various stages of their writing projects. We are writers helping writers by providing audience, encouragement, and insight to the revision process. We are not a proofreading or editing service; rather, it is our hope to encourage students to edit their own work in order to improve clarity of ideas, logical organization, and overall effectiveness. We strive to provide a unique space, where writers can feel comfortable to discuss and develop their ideas and where they can grow confident in their ability to communicate with diverse readers.
The Writing Lab Process
The Mustang Writing Lab is located in the PHS Media Center Computer Lab. Writing Lab hours are from 3:15 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
The Writing Lab process begins when high school staff communicates assignments and assignment guidelines to the Writing Lab coordinator. Students may then use the Writing Lab resources to proceed through the writing process.
