A dedicated mother and spouse, Mrs. Cortes thrives in an active lifestyle with her sports-loving daughter and husband. Their household is completed by the companionship of two charming dogs, Duke and Shadow. With an adventurous palate, she enjoys exploring new cuisines alongside her favorite dishes like pepperoni pizza and enchiladas. In her leisure time, she often engages in reading, coloring, or enjoys family movie nights.
Fluent in both Spanish and English, Mrs. Cortes's multicultural upbringing - from Los Angeles to Prosser - has influenced her perspective. Her family's establishment of the El Caporal Mexican restaurant in Prosser adds depth to her diverse background. Graduating from Prosser High School in 2001, she later pursued a teaching career, culminating in her recent achievement of a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Teacher Education from Yakima Valley Community College.
Mrs. Cortes envisions her classroom at Whitstran Elementary School as a nurturing environment for growth, curiosity, and kindness. Encouraging students to learn from their mistakes and celebrate their achievements, she is committed to fostering a supportive and inspiring educational journey for every student.
